It's a funny concept, zombie toasts fighting humans. But the gameplay isn't very appealing. You're spamming bullets as the zombies continually come at you, and once they touch you once, you die. As I was shooting at a zombie, it came up to me and touched me and died, but my character still could not move and eventually died. I then tried to jump and dodge the zombies all the way to the end, but the level seems to stop there. I would rate this higher but I feel like this game is unfinished. The graphics still look pretty despite this.
Good work for what you've done so far.

PinkSunGames responds:

Thank You For The Advice, this was my first game and I was going for something small. I really appreciate you for taking time out of your day to wright this review :)

I can't get inbetween the gap of one fish up high and the two on the bottom, the float jump doesn't really work to your advantage at that point and I keep scraping that top guy. I can tell there was effort put into making this game, the sprites are well done, it moves smooth but I think the difficulty needs more niche into it. Maybe make the hitboxes smaller? I don't know. This game was alright though.

HakunaM responds:

It works better if you press space right after the character start to fall, so you would have to keep space pressed to jump up until you reach the height you want, then release and quickly press again to start falling as slow as possible. But maybe it's not so easy to get used to how it works, which could be a problem, so I will probably make some adjustments to how that works, and/or how close some enemies are placed. I have completed the stage a couple times though, so it is at least possible to reach the goal as it is right now.

And thank you for your feedback, it has been useful. :)

Puzzles are too hard without the walkthrough guiding you... And the soundtrack is alright, but the story is almost non-existent, like it's just pushing you in a scenario and forcing you to do everything in the room just cause the goal is to get out. I mean it makes sense, but I'd like to see a little more work in these places.

Uh a problem here, I walked right up to it and pushed the thing off-screen and it wouldn't come back down. The fighting moves seem solid though.

SparkliMotion responds:

Ohh, hahhaaha the room doesnt have an unseenable roof xDD
Thank you :DDD

I can't clear the side arrow attacks of Chapter 3. I can tell a lot of love and attention was put into this, sometimes the difficulty scales from incredibly easy, into dying multiply in the start sections. I think if you made the attacks a little more polished and more easy to clear I think I'd rate this higher. But I didn't clear the whole game, so this is my score for you.

I love this so much... My high score was 5 but I FAILED TO BAT A MELON LOL.
Also the fact that if your score is zero, if you press anything before the ball is pitched the dude is just holding the bat to the sky and gets yelled at.
Can we please have a highscore system :3

So I think the kid went to college and got paid, started networking and mingling with other friends. Maybe something happened that flipped and turned his life upside down with a bunch of debt, maybe he was in a scandal and he pushed (destroyed) his friends away, and then soon went crazy and destroyed his idea of home. Then, he accepted what he really missed back in the old days. Home.

Anyways that's my interpretation, and this was a damn fine game.

Congrats I heard Valthirian Arc was on Switch!

I LOST IT ALL WHEN THEY CAME FOR ME

Holy hell, the first level kills. I think this is visually appealing, but as a gaming standpoint, I think it'd be nicer if you'd explain to them what enemies do what. If I knew that the bots that shoot from their chest beams don't actually hurt when you touch them I'd have an easier time understanding that than actually experimenting how to actually beat the level for half an hour. I also think that the shield kind of sucks, it'd be nicer if it was able to block more attacks rather than 3, and the ability to slide is cool, but it's useless since you can't actually dodge anything with it. Maybe make the jumping a little less tedious, because once you understand these things I think this game could be more enjoyable for others. Me, on the other hand, I had a fun time trying out the game mechanics and viewed it more as a challenge. Please keep polishing your work, and good luck with anything else you do.

PS: The story's kind of funny.

Michael-Flaherty responds:

Thanks for your comment! The idea for the story was actually the entire inspiration for the game because it made me laugh. You are correct the shield isn't great, I need to find a better way to implement it, give it more hits or just scratch it. The rules with robot collision are also wonky and I need to find a better way to communicate them (because the big robots actually do kill you on impact), I'd like to do it without on-screen text, but right now I'm making effort of it so that'd be better than nothing. Thanks for playing!

I'm a video game lover, and noob pixel artist. And I love pancakes.
